Fuel Pump?
#1
Hey Guys, I am new to this forum so bear with me
I just bought a used 87(5/86) Honda TRX 350. It sat for a while. The original owner lost the key and tried to hot wire it after ripping the switch out of it.
I have a new switch coming but figured out how to twist the wire together to make it work for now. Theres 6 wires. My question is the fuel pump. He put a aftermarket one on and its not working either. I can jump the wire and make it work but even then it doesn't pump so I know I haver to get a new pump.I was doing some reading and if you unplug the harness going to the fuel pump relay the wires still have power but the manual said it shouldn't? So will another aftermarket pump work?
Is the switch not being there giving me trouble?
Sorry for the long post.
Hear is what I got

It acts like I have a bad ground some where but all the wires look good. I replaced the pump relay and all the wires in and out of it test like they are suposed to but the pump will not come on. It you take a test light and start probing at the relay or pump it will kick in, but soon as you remove test light probe it stops running and the atv runs out of gas. Any one have an idea what to check from here?
