Default Trail GPS

Hello,

I'm going to West Virginia next month and riding the HM and outlaw trails. I know the HM trails are marked. I was curious to know if i bought a GPS and the TOPO map will the Outlaw trails be clearly visible on the GPS> I've never used an outdoor GPS.

Thanks for the help,

Jimmy

I just got a Garmin. I'm headed down in April, I have yet to use mine but plan on bringing it.

Do not expect the HM trails to be preloaded on your outdoor GPS. I believe they do have packages available where you can buy and load the trails, but I think they are around $40 if I remember right. I use a handheld outdoor GPS and track everywhere we ride. It allows me to see what we have ridden and what we haven't. I can also compare to a map and find where we are when we are lost...or not sure where we are. I also load our tracks into GoogleEarth and can see the hills we rode, etc.

I use a Garmin NUVI 500 that has topo maps. It does not have trails listed but the topo map is nice to see what elevation changes are coming.
