why is it one dealer will tell you the price of a machine and when talking to him about it they add prep and setup fees and destination charges and this and that when you talk to another dealer within a few miles they dont charge the prep and all that the other one was charging??????? then when you go back to the first one and tell them you can get it across town for 800 less they call you a lier and "if you get it there they dont stand behind the services as we do and when you get there to get it they will add these to it" why cant they put a true price on the machines? instead of the add this and add that for our services ???

I don't know the real reason, or maybe I do and just don't know it.
First off, always ask for an OTD (out the door price) that includes all the little fees taxes and titles. I had a dealer tell me the exact same thing. That the other dealer would be out of busniness in a year. Funny, they're still there.
Freight is my favorite. Yes, it is an expense, but it's also (to me) the cost of doing business. My kfx was made in Japan. Just me, but it's gonna be a tough sell if it's over there and I can find another brand here. Then there was assembly. Ok, leave it in the crate, I can assemble it. Oh, and since you're wanting to charge freight, have it delivered to my house.
I've always figured for the dealer that wont' deal, there's still someone willing to pay their price and be happy. For the smarter consumer, it takes a little footwork, but you can get a better price.
Sticker on my kfx was 5799. I had been in the shop and talked to the salesperson before. Called him back and told him I looked at another quad, but if he could go 5000 otd, we'd have a deal. He said he needed to talk to his manager, which was acceptable. He called back in 5 minutes and said it was a deal. Also got a 2 year warranty too.
One trick is to finance it through them. Not saying that in itself is a good deal. But most times if they finance through the prospective dealers brand (this dealer used Honda) they get a kickback and will be willing to deal a little more. When the first payment was due, paid it off with the money I could have paid cash with.
Lots of little tricks and I'm sure others can give you some good sound advice as well.
Oh, sorry for the long answer. If I answered it.

Cash at a lot of places should get you a discount too. If nothing else, ask to speak to the sales manager or whoever is in charge of finance. Tell them you have cash, and it may be a lot, but showing them makes a big difference too.

wheel and deal as if it was gonna be a cash deal. but don't tell them how much you got in your pocket. they'll want to take it all. so, "if" you had the cash, what would they take for it? TT&L. lock/stock/and barrel....OUT THE DOOR, give me keys, title, and help me load it price.......then, low ball a little more for the cash deal.......always remember, you have the leverage. they hate to hear "i don't have to buy, but you need to sell". heh heh. that'll get'em. works for me anyways.....good luck....

Are they in the same zip code? That may sound stupid but one time I checked Polaris' website and I had to enter my zip code to see if there were any rebates.
