regulator rectifier

regulator rectifier
hi,
I bought a 4 wire regulator rectifier off eBay, the connection is slightly different to the last one so that made me think that the order of the wires might be different. the wires on the old one are different colours to the new one. the new wires are {green}{yellow}{white}{red}. any idea what the use each of the wires are for? I know 2 of the wires go to the magneto for the AC and the other two must go to the battery to charge it.. any idea which wire goes where?
