Trail Drags
#1
Wondering if anyone has made a simple trail drag to help keep ruts and weeds down . Some of our trails are in the woods which have alot of leaves and the soil is very peaty which ruts up fairly easy. We use these trails for walking and mountain biking too .
I figure if I can drag them and it would make it nicer for everyone to use the trail .
So-far I come up with some sort of drag out of some chain link fencing with some wt to hold it down .
Most of these trails are old and overgrown, Iv'e been out brushing them for when we run or sleds around and making some new ones .... and now for quad play real soon
any pics of any simple drags anyone has made ?

ATVing is not like Snowmobiling, with organized groomed trails. In the ATV world the worst the condition of the trail the better. You do not want a guy following along in a golf cart.

..I understand .Im just trying to make some areas nice for others too. I live in a 1 mile block with residential bordering farm feilds and pocket woods .Along with power towers that run for 6mi's with a trail that runs the whole way up the middle .
There is a fair amount of traffic around the area , kids use the trails as short cuts , walkers use them . Have seen some horses out and about too.
..and of coarse quads ,sleds and dirt bikes.
Some of the trails are a rutted bog and not so nice to walk or bike ride on . I made some new ones but on higher ground through the woods . This is one that I would drag since it's the main one to the school and would benefit others too.
I like the tire on the fence idea . Iv'e seen some old tires out in the bush back there I could use too.... hmmm I think i might try it

Would the owner of the property object? For my driveway I pull an old section of a John Deere drag. Its probably 4-5' wide and you could probably find one on some farmers grove out in the weeds for cheap or cheaper.
