Lightbulb And now for something completely different.

Like the title implies, my type of ATV is a bit far from the norm. What I do is take old riding lawn mowers that no longer have a use and re-purpose them for off roading. There is actually a whole forum dedicated to this hobby (ATLTF.com) with many builds which rival real quads in terms of performance. My build is a bit above average in comparison to most but hey, you can decide what you think of it for yourselves. And before you ask, yes, I am putting this much work into a riding lawn mower.

Tractor is originally a 1969 Sears suburban 12

Which, after a few basic modifications turned into this

It is currently being torn down for major modifications that include front suspension, V-twin out of a motorbike with full gearbox and clutch, solid rear end, brakes all around, new tires/rims, and repaint. Here is how it currently sits.

Is the rear locked or limited slip? I,d get a winch on it ,those lawn tractors have some weight to them.

A bit too much actually, currently running 22.5x7.50x12 all around which when paired with no suspension makes it rather tippy. Kinda hoping to eliminate that with the addition of IFS and smaller tires.

The rear started out as just a plain agricultural diff but I welded it locked. I plan on putting a winch on it but I'm still trying to figure out how much room I will have up front with the new engine.
