If I did a diesel again it would be anything but a Ford,, I got really soured. I love the Duramax Chevy's...they look Hawt!!!

 

Friend has a Duramax (Isuzu) powered GMC 3500 Dually. To bad the rest of the truck is a GM. The engine and transmission are nice. He's pulled up around 12,000 lbs. so far without it breaking a sweat. Of course, he has the infamous GM dashboard quirks. As he drives along at a pretty constant 70 mph on the highway the speedometer keeps climbing all the way up. He said, to get it fixed the whole dash has to be sent to a guy in Tennessee or something like that.

 

Why can't the Big Three get it right?

I keep hearing something about Nissan developing a diesel with Cummins. But, it sounds like they are only going to put it in a half ton like I have. To me that would be a waste other than getting better mileage than the Titan gas model. I bought a Titan knowing I probably wouldn't like a half ton. I was right but it was an easy $600 job to have a leaf added on each side for the big loads. Nissan makes the commercial van in 1/2, 3/4, and full ton. Why don't they make heavier duty pickups, especially when you consider that the frame they use is the Nissan Titan frame?

I think the big three and others would do better if they listened to consumers.

 

Sounds like a bad stepper motor in the dash. Pretty usual issue with the GMT800's, not hard to fix. I have instructions on how to fix it if youre interested, theyre on a Duramax site im a member of

 

Every brand has their own issues, you just have to learn about how to fix them

 

If you have a durama without efi live.., you shouldn't...

And Nissan cummins... 2 words that shouldn't be used in the same sentence!!

 

Oddly enough both of my American pickups that gave me tons of problems were made in Canada and Mexico. My Nissan is made in Tennessee.

 

Just make sure they are Bosch remans. Plan on still having to do injectors about every 100,000 miles, the new ones didnt cure the issues in the LB7 engines. The best you can do is buy the cleanest fuel available, treat it to increase lubricity, and filter the crap out of it. A lift pump helps too, stock Duramax pickups did not come with them, the CP3 has to pull fuel from the tank to the front of the engine, then pressurize it to 20,000+ PSI
