My friends 2006 4x4 Foreman 500 (28hp) weight 100lb less then my 2001 Sportsman 500 (35hp) yet I just smoke it in both acceration and top end speed.

Plus he has no hydraulic rear disc ,true AWD, low range or IRS and much less ground clearance and suspension travel.
7hp advantage is just to much for a 100lb lighter weight advantage for a ATV to make up for.
