Any help appreciated - cold start yamaha wolverine problem
#1
Hi everyone, I'm new to ATV's and the forum. I recently bought my first atv, a yamaha wolverine 2001. I've run into an issue with my electric start on my machine. It worked fine when I got the machine 2 months ago but now with the colder weather the electric start cranks over and seems like it wants to start but won't. the pull start works well, although I have to use 3 or 4 pulls to get it started. Once it's started and running, if I turn the machine off, I can then use the electric start and starts immediately.
I pulled the carb and thoroughly cleaned it out. I also ruled out the battery as I had it load tested today and it has plenty of cold cranking power. I changed the spark plug out and so that can be ruled out. Does anyone know what could cause this to happen? I ordered a new solenoid relay because it's a cheap part to replace and I was thinking if it pull starts fairly easily maybe the relay is burned out or something and isn't giving adequate power to the starter? Anyhow, I'm anxious to hear if anyone else has ever had this issue and ways they fixed it. Thank you all for your time.
