Will Sears auto or maaco do a front end alignment for me?

You want some movement with the ends. But it shouldn't be flopping around.

There's a set of used ones on ebay for 20 bucks. One tie rod end had a torn boot, but if it wasn't one you needed, you could put the old one back in it's place.

Aligning the front is rather easy, occasionally it takes some time.
When you remove the tie rod end from the tie rod count the revolutions. This should get you in the ball park. The rest is trial and error with a tape measure and a box wrench.
With sport quads I will toe out the alignment 1/4" overall. It helps with handling at higher speeds.
This a tie rod came off of my old 400ex. That stump jumped in front of me!
