Default 2003 polaris 250 2 cycle

So I just traded a boat for one of these it ran good and my friend was driving it and he heard a nosie. so he shut it off right then. I check the 2 cycle oil and it was empty.haven't put oil in it yet going to. but right after we shut it off. It wont fire back up. it cranks good with electronic start and sound good. motor still turned. So question is what wrong and do they have oil sensor that keep it from starting when it runs out.

2 strokes don't like to be run without oil in the fuel. That noise was likely your piston dieing. Time to pull the head and look for scoring on the cylinder walls.

Default polaris

I did not hear what sound it made cause wasent driving when it did it. but it sound the same when I crank it when it was running and sound like it had good compression. sound pretty good while im pressing the start bottons cant hear no knock or bad sound during turning the key.u think it could got a little hot that why. u think if I put oil in it that it will start up it has 2 separate tank for it.1 for gas 1 for oil.I dont even drive it long pulled if off the trailer road it for 5 min to 10 mins and it dont die on me we shut it off then it won't fire like right after shut off

You may have gotten very lucky! Oil in the reservoir tank doesn't have to be changed just topped off with a good 2 stroke injector oil. Only holds 2 quarts, but can usually last through 5-7 tanks full of gas.Sounds like someone just never checked it or the low oil sensor in the oil tank is either faulty or unplugged..
