I'm in the process of buying a Polaris sportsman 800 2008 model and was wondering if it was too big to fit in the back of my 2006 tundra(the smaller ones)?

 

I've seen the smaller Tundras,similar to the Ford Ranger if I'm thinking right. If it is, wheel well humps would be the problem as you'd have to physically get the front wheels over them without hitting the cab glass.Not sure,but think you'd have to have the tail gate down for the rear tires.Not impossible as I've seen people haul atvs in small trucks and a couple crazy people stuff em in suvs after lowering the handle bars... Better all the way around if you could possibly borrow a trailer though.

 

OPT, I think he means older version of the full sized Toyota Tundra (V8) and not the mid size Tacoma (Ranger sized truck).. FWIW, I have a 04 Tundra and a 500HO just fits between the wheel wells, but I do have to leave the tailgate down, rear wheels sit right at the edge of the bed.

Maybe the old T 100?

I made a ramp/mount that went in my old Ranger out of 2x12's. Had a 45º cut in front of the wheel wells, and then the planks (with supports underneath and laterally) went to the back of the bed. So it was like riding up over the wheel wells, without dropping back in once you were over them. The back wheels still stayed on the bed floor itself. A nice side effect for me was it made the quad sit at an angle so the back wheels would hit the back of the bed, but the bumper would not hit the back window.

Two things I wish I'd done with it. Taken pictures and patented it.

 

Easiest way would be to measure the distance between the wheel wells. As long as you have 48"(thats the stock width of the Sportsman 800) you should be fine. The actual track width might be less since the fenders are usually the widest part and are usually slightly wider than the wheel to wheel measurement. It took me a minute to figure out what he meant by the smaller Tundra but they did make one a little smaller for a few years until the current version came out. It probably has the 4.7 V8 in it as well. It will probably be a very close.
