The Kawasaki Mojave is about the same size as a Honda Recon. It'd be a bit cramped but a 6' person could ride one. I had a Kawasaki Lakota that was a similar size and it was a great starter quad for me at 6'3". I like the bigger utility machines now but the Lakota was fun.

They look kind of small but you'll have to sit on one and judge for yourself.

Its probably going to be pretty cramped. If you want a budget priced sport quad, I'd look at something like a Yamaha Warrior or Honda 300ex. Both are a little bigger than the Mojave.

I`m 6`2'' and all the quads mentioned are too small for me. the warrior being a little better. I have a kfx700 and it `s probably the most comfortable stock bike I had out of about 1-12 diff. bikes.

Sport quads are just smaller in general than utility-based quads of similar displacement. I had a Honda Rancher 350 before my current Grizzly and I loved the size of it, the ergos were almost perfect for me and I'm 5'11". If it had more power, it would have been perfect. A Raptor 660 would be good too. I assume he doesn't want to spend a fortune to find something suitable. A former co-worker had a Raptor 660 and he was a bigger guy than me and he didn't seem cramped on it. Polaris Predator is about the same size too. The KFX700 or something similar like a Polaris Scramber would be fine if he wanted something with a cvt but I'm assuming he's looking for something with a manual clutch. The KFX700 is a bit more expensive than any of the others mentioned, hard to find one of those in good shape for less than $2500-$3000. I saw several Raptor 660's in good shape in the $2000 range locally, Predator is in same price range too. Here's a really nice looking Raptor 660 for $1700 for example 2005 raptor 660. While a really nice KFX700 costs a bit more 2007 kfx700. Raptor 700 would be even better than the 660 but there is quite a spike in price from the 660 to the 700, nice ones are in the $3000 range like this one http://stlouis.craigslist.org/snw/5378488658.html

I,m 6' 190lbs and found riding a 300 Kawasaki Lakota very comfortable and I think it shares the same chassis as the Mojave.

Never owned a sport quad myself. Only true sport quad I have ever ridden was a 400ex and it was a good fit for me. I'm not crazy about manual clutches but for a lot of people they really make riding fun. I guess I have gotten spoiled by cvt utility quads. I wish there was a way to shift from low to high range or back without stopping. If someone could build a transmission like that, that would be awesome. I guess stopping to change gears is not that big of a deal but there occasionally comes times when terrain varies that low range that you needed a few seconds ago becomes too slow in a faster, easier part of the trail. My 660 will go about 30 mph in low range but that's basically wide open. I try to limit it to about 15-20 mph to not overrev the engine. Anything above that, I use high range.

I am 5' 11", and when I first rode a Mojave back when they came out (yes, I am that old), I felt a little cramped, but not uncomfortable. Once I rode the larger more modern sport quads, I felt like I was riding a mini quad. I have the same feeling when switching from my 700xx or wife's KFX700 to my son's TRX250EX. The cool thing is, despite the major decrease in power, you learn to appreciate how light, nimble and easy to toss around they are when compared to the hogs. This is something that you really need to test for yourself. ALWAYS ride BEFORE you buy.
