Default ATV Implements

Hello everyone!
We just moved into a new house and are now trying to figure out what our best option is in terms of taking care of the land. We are on about 3 acres. A huge portion of the land is wooded and needs to be bush hogged. We will also need to use a box blade and eventually move on to other implements as we find new projects. We currently have 3 Polaris Sportsman 500's. We are considering getting a tractor with a bush hog then getting a box blade and other implements later. We are meeting a fella to buy his tractor this week but have recently noticed that most tractor implements can be found for ATV's. Obviously the implements/ATV wont be as strong and sturdy as a tractor, but are they worth it? Is it best to just buy implements individually for the 4wheelers or should we go ahead and purchase the tractor? Im sure many of you have used ATV implements and tractors, so what works best for you?

Also with that in mind, I just found a website that makes full hydraulic systems for the fourwheelers:
http://www.wildharemfg.com/
Does anyone know anything about them as well?

tractor all the way
YOu said it yourself
"Obviously the implements/ATV wont be as strong and sturdy as a tractor"
Its not the strength of the implements it the power and weight of the machine driving them
ATV implements leave lots to be desired IF You have access to even a small tractor

I have a 1984 John Deer 4x4 650 17Hp diesel tractor with front loader and rear PTO. One small tractor! Can handle anything I need it for, best $$$$ I've ever spent. Without it I would be SCREWED'I build Ford trucks, so moving truck chassis around without a tractor used to be a nightmare
Most valuable machine I have next to my toy hauling Superduty. Tractors are pricey, but worth their weight in gold.
For what you describe you need to do I would forget about the ATV mounted stuff
you need Torque and a heavy machine

We played that game. the attachments on ATVs are costly because the need their own motor and still not as sturdy as a tractor.
You do not need a full size tractor either. We ended up get a good used MF garden tractor with hydraulic drive with a front and rear PTO.
The attachments are cheaper and much tuffer.

P.S Don't mix up a garden tractor with a riding lawn mower, believe it of not some do. LOL

Well we have found a good deal on a tractor/bush hog combo on Craigslist and were just checking every other option before purchasing. Looks like we are gonna purchase the tractor; everything that I have been able to find indicates that the work would eventually be too much for the ATV's and kill them faster than they would have died normally.
And yeah I had a neighbor who thought his lawn mower was a tractor lol it does happen alot unfortunately.

I've never had one but think you're better off buying a tractor instead of using an ATV as a tractor.

An atv is a toy that can be made to do some work. A tractor is a machine built to do only work. Even a small tractor that doesn't have a lot of power can easily outdo an atv for pulling a disc or plow. Everything is much beefier than on a smaller and lighter atv. Tractors are geared super low to get the max out of what power they have. The added weight is an asset to a tractor where on an atv it would just hurt the performance.

X However many. The ATV implements are good for making food plots with nice loose soil, or for gardens. You are better off the route you're going.

I have a big, heavy 6' box grader. Put it behind my Arctic Cat 500. Bad idea, no way to easily adjust the height of the tongue! Headed down my driveway and it rapidly filled with half a yard of gravel, then I'm spinning all 4 Mudzillas digging a hole to China. ATV's are pretty good at plowing snow, I even use mine in the woods towing out logs. I have a giant Case rough terrain forklift that I use for the big jobs, but a 4 wheeler can do a lot, just not take the place of a real tractor. Most implements are made for a 3 point hitch and a PTO, for a reason.

We ended up buying a 1993 Ford 1920! Definitely much stronger then any of our 4wheelers wouldve been.
