Default Clutch problems

My 03 sportsman 700 has problems. I replaced my driveable months ago, then a friend rode it and I think he forgot to use low gear. I took the side cover off after hearing a noise. The belt is loose and the outer clutch plate moves loosely. It's like the the spring is worn and it's not pushing it in to tighten the belt. Polaris Tech are you around ?

Only way to see what damage has been done is to pull the clutch, remove the snap ring, helix, spring and check the rollers out. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

Main things to look for are the three rollers for wear and the helix itself where it ramps on the these rollers. This could be where the noise is coming from.

"moves loosely"...like in & out? Sounds like spring broke or popped out of its guide...but like OPT said, ya need to pull it apart to find out...take pics, we can guide you from there is not already obvious...
