I keep frying my starter on long rides on my 2002 Polaris sportsman 500 ho. Could it be a voltage, cdi or strator problem? Any help would be appreciated

 

Three ways that I can think of is the starter bendix hanging up,the solenoid shorted out keeping power to the starter or the start button in the left control switch sticking. On any of these you would notice the noise real quick. Once started there shouldn't be any power to the starter wire.
