Default What year transmission can i swap with my 2004 polaris sportsman?

My 4x4 isnt working on my 2004 polaris sportsman 4x4 600 v-twin i was told that my front shaft isnt spinning and it's because of my transmission.I don't want to go straight into i want to find out if my buddies 2003 500cc sportsman tranny would fit in mine or an 04-05 700cc sportsman tranny can maybe also fit on my 04 polaris sportsman 4x4 600 v-twin.

Cracked/ broken roller cages inside the front diff were the main problem on awd not engaging, but if you're not getting power from the prop shaft to the front diff the splines could be stripped at the transmission. #1380221.

Models shown that use the same gear case as your model 600.

Default 04 polaris sportsman 4x4 600 v-twin transmission problem

So all it could be is just the splines that are stripped not giving power to the shaft but if it isnt that and the problem goes deeper it may also be the transmission altogether.I wanted to know does the shaft spin only when the awd Is on or even if the awd Is off the front shaft can still spin,if the awd Is on and the shaft isnt spinning do you think it could just be the armature plate thats not engaging?

The prop shaft spins constantly along with both front drive shafts in 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. If that checks out ok,then problem still sounds like it's in the front diff roller cage. You also have to have voltage to the front diff. If that checks out then might be time to check into the diff. Always replace the armature plate if you have to replaced a damaged roller cage.
