Polaris xplorer 300 won’t start

Polaris xplorer 300 won’t start
it was my grandfathers and he bought it new and had it for a while and it just died and the electric start wouldn’t work so it just sat and I recently drug it out and tried to see what was wrong but I just don’t know where to begin any help would be appreciated. Thanks
