Look at page 92(Chapter 3.32 engine) on the pressure relief valve. Bolt is to the side of the oil filter. Make sure the spring and plunger are ok,and that you can move the valve up and down.https://www.scribd.com/doc/51630928/...ce-Manual-NoPW Plus just to make sure, you have to clamp the oil tank vent line right at the tank nipple. The slit is about an inch or so past that. If you clamp the vent line past the slit then yes oil will shoot out..

i just put a new spring and plunger in it and the old one was not stuck in there ....a little oil comes out of tube with slit in it at startup then its like constant air coming out of the slit with tiny bits of oil(spitting very lightly)...i believe its primed cause there is no noise ...can i just put a solid line in there with no slit........thanks again for answering

When these 500s first came out I had to make a slit in this hose as it didn't come from the factory. The service bulletin calling for the slit was mainly for cold temp areas to where moisture could vent from the tank and not freeze up in the line. Pressure buildup could have been a problem if it did.If you live in Florida or Arizona,no problem changing the hose, but other wise I wouldn't. Make sure you keep the air box clean of any oil also.
