Atv Magazine just did a piece on the rhino in the Sept issue and revealed Yamaha has limited the speed to 35 mph!!!!! The Polaris Ranger does 40mph.......Yamaha defended this by saying the Rhino will be much quicker than the Polaris though....I don't care!!!!! 35 mph???? What in the heck is Yamaha thinking? A 660 Grizz motor and only 35, lawyer's at work for us, protecting us from ourself...... must be kissing the CPSC's butt, after all the crap about atv safety being stirred up lately......Still 35 mph!!!!! That model will flop for sure when people who wanted one find out.......I can't believe it!!!!!! It blow's my mind.... only 35 mph!!!!!

 

Surely there is a way to make it go faster

dont worry, once people start buyin them they will figure out how to mod them and get more speed out of them. probly unbolt or unplug one things and it will open it up to 50.. so.. it will come

 

Why would they want to limit it that much? safety is everything i guess...

 

They did say the limiter wasn't timing or ignition related, so it may be easy to disable, still, why would they want to limit it THAT much, I can see maybe 45-50 mph, but 35!!!!!!It still blow's my mind??? LOL.

I have a ranger right now and it goes 42mph. The top speed feels pretty quick for the size of this vehicle, but if i could get to 45-50 mph range, it would be a lot easier to follow my friends around the desert. I was hoping that the rhino would go much faster than 35. This sucks! I could always modify it, but who wants to dump money into a golf cart on steroids?

 

WOW...this means that there is one ATV (sort of) that my old Sportsman 335 could out run....it did a whopping 38 MPH lol. I bet it gets to 35 quick though.

 

I talked to a person of interest about this matter and I was told they could add at least 10mph by disabling or changing a factory setting. I was told pay no attention to the 35 mph limit, it can be exceeded easily.
