My guess is that with the larger valves they saw the engine temps rising. But heck, if nothing else... a cooler engine lasts longer. Oh yeah, they are going to have new pipes standard as well. I think they mentioned aluminum pipe as well. Pretty good if the cost is going to remain the same.

 

If anything the freer breathing larger valves would help to unrestrict the motor, making it run cooler.

 

Yet they are pumping more fuel through the system which gives more heat... so who knows where the balance is on the equation.

 

In any event, my Yerf valved KPX has .100" bigger valves than stock, and I havn't had any overheating issues.

 

Cool. Will be great to hear your review... I have a quote in with a place on the net I found that supplies parts for yerf to see what the cost would be.

Too early to tell since they are still a pre order item. But, they do look nice and beefy. That ram air scoup is interesting... I wonder how effective it is at keeping from becoming Ram-Mud???

Typically these things overstate max Mph a bit.. Guess we'll see in this case sooner or later.

 

Judging from the pics, I'd say they are a Dazon clone. The bodywork looks real close, and they have the same idiotic dual drive chain setup.

 

One more engine option for these carts I have been researching is transplanting one of the 90cc kids quad engines into it. They are roughly the same size, and have LOTS of performance parts available. They are 2-stroke if you are not familiar and can be picked up used for a reaonable amount. They also have what looks like an identical cvt. I have ridden a couple and was not too impressed with stock form but having much more experience with 2-strokes than 4, I know the potential for probably more power is there. If you haven't ridden a modern cr80 lately, you would be suprised at the power they can put out. They run like a good 125 used to and a 50cc now runs like an 80.

 

I think the weight of the kart with two people would overwealm any 90cc engine, stock or built. The problem with 2 stroke engines is that they have no torque. And that's what these karts need. I've thought about a 2 stroke conversion myself. But with a 250 Trailblazer motor(air-cooled with a forward and reverse CVT). The whole ATV can be bought used for around $1500. You could probably part out the rest of the quad and make nearly all your money back.
