Default Polaris Ranger ....bigger motor???

as said around the forums alot, the power between the 800 and the 700 is night and day, theres a large difference, just to give you an idea of how much difference, the 800 uses a blet twice as thick as the one used on the 700

I sold my 04 700 EFI with plans of buying the 800. However I was out of a ATV for about a month, so I bought this quad instead. I really did want the 800 but just couldn't wait any longer for it. As for power difference, I have no clue, never seen or drove one. All the dealers here either haven't got a shipment yet, or they sold out the day they got a few instock. Example Chattanooga TN (were I bought both my EFI's) got 21 in, and had EVERY one sold in 6 hours! So I figured it would be prolly Feb before I could get my hands on one, so I bought the 700 instead. However I do plan on getting the 06 800!

Thanks for the information. I figured that it would probably be best to wait until January or Febuary to check into getting the SP800efi. I talk to my local dealer and he said the ones that hes has coming are already accounted for.

So, you think they are putting the 700 in the Ranger; does that include the six wheel model?

I don't think so (maybe, but prolly not) the Ranger XP is supposed to be more like the 800 of the ATV world. It will work, but it will also fly. A nice blend of work and play!

Polaris5610......they haven't told me a price yet. But, if history repeats itself at my local dealer, they will be selling them at MSRP + freight, prep, makeready and anything else they can slam you with (I'm farm exempt). When I was look at the 2004 700efi, they came off $50.00 but tacked on all of the other stuff. WOW...what a break. But, you never know what they will do. They do have a couple of 2004 700efi's left and they would make a deal of $6100.00 + all of the other stuff for a drive out of $6649.00, but I think I want to check out the 800efi. I already have a kawa700 prairie and my though is, why get another 700 when I can get an 800efi with IRS........and, by the way, after I test drove the 2004 700efi, there is no other quad with a better suspension. I test rode a kawa 750BF the other day and it was very good, but nothing that I have ever rode compairs with the polaris IRS ride. That is one of the reasons I am looking at the 2005 polaris 800efi or maybe the 700efi. To get a better ride while keeping the power and torque I am use too. At my age (38) with a compressed disk in my neck, I have decided I need a comfortable ride.

Well it maybe worth the drive then. I would check with Polaris of Chattanooga TN they sell the 800 at $8000 OTD, and plus since your out of state there would be no sales tax (not that you had to pay them any way but still). This is about the best place I have found to "buy" a ATV, however I would not recommend anyone to go there to get service done, there out of this world when it comes to that. Example it cost me $39 to get them to put the front rack extender on my quad!! It took them all of 10 mins to do it. I didn't want to do it myself since it was a brand new quad, and I had to drill on it LOL. However the cost of the extender itself wasn't that bad at $69 (no tax) I just the thought the install was way up there. With that being said I would by from them again, I bought my 04 and 05 700EFI's from them. They will be getting 60 800EFIs in on the 26th of this month, and 120 of them in sometime in Feb. If you wanted to get a 05 700EFI there going for $6500 there also. Anyway good luck shopping!

Oh yea, for $250 you can add a Warn winch (2.5) installed. Thats a pretty good little saveings there too if you were buying a winch for it...
