Default Hard Starting Polaris

I have a 2004 Polaris ranger and in warm weather when you drive it a while and then let it set for a few minutes it is hard to start and keep running, the smell of gas is real strong. After a few tries and you can keep it running it will run ok again until you shut it off. Any ideas?
