mule 610 25mph
#1
hey we just got a new mule 610 4x4. it runs great and all and the only thing to complain about is the speed. I went to the kawasaki dealer like 20 minutes after we got it and told them to take that governor of the thing. it didnt work and i wondered if anyone could tell me how to take it off. also . is there and risk of damaging the mule by doing this. thanks a lot

You can go around the Governor, but the engine will self destruct if you pin it on any slight down hill. It will also void the 1 year warranty. The 3" of suspention can not handle much more speed. I find that the engine will really start to shake above 28mph.
If you still want to go aroud the Governor. Have some one push the gas and watch the throttle cable move. Just above the motor the cable goes under a black metal cover. That is where the governer is located. I just zip tied the throttle( where it goes in ) to (wear it comes out). The governor will no longer be able to roll of the throttle above 25mph. This may cause damage to your Mule so do at your own risk.
I did this mod not for more top speed, but to keep the governor from rolling the throttle to idle just when I needed it most. I now must be the manual governor so I do not destroy my motor. If anyone who drive my Mule can not be trusted I just cut of my zip tie to prevent them from causing damaging to my motor.
Good Luck!
