The CDI in my 05 Ranger is acting up. It's got to do with the fan and temp light and sometimes does not want to start. The dealer tells me it's the CDI since we trouble shot the other posibilities and they all check out. I was wondering if there isanother Polaris CDI or after market CDI that would be bett then the $200+ Ranger unit.

It sounds like your computer not the CDI. They are two different things on the Ranger, not one in the same like most ATV's.

 

The box under the right side of the hood is the computer then and the little box under the drivers seat is the CDI I am guessing. So I guess it's a new computer that I need.

 

That is correct. The box under the seat is your CDI. The one under your hood is the computer. The computer is about $1000 but if it is bad your warranty should cover it. As far as the CDI I put the Sportsman 700EFI CDI in my Ranger and it made a noticeable difference. Top speed was increased around 6 MPH . It set me back $300+ bucks though. Hot Seat has custom built my new clutches and I am putting them on today. Another $600.

 

I just ordered the module (computer box) today it's not $1000 but $239.00 There is power going into the box but nothing coming out it stopped working all together today.
