To change a PVT belt?

To change a PVT belt?
Is it possible to change a Polaris Ranger PVT belt in the field? Difficulty level? Tools required? If not in the field, can it be done by a mechanically skilled person at home? This question is coming from a potential Ranger owner that is a long way from the dealer, and ventures a LONG way from the highway.

This covers the belt replacement on a 6x6, but it should be the same for any Ranger. Fairly simple job and could easily be accomplished in the field.

Thanks Spool! This forum is worth it's weight in Gold! Going UTV shopping tomorrow, and probably a purchase. I do not particuarily like belts, but now I know it is not a big hassle to deal with one broken on the trail. I would presume other brands are similiar, but will query the dealer prior to any purchase. The article also answers my question in regard to the necessary RPM at low speeds.

I don't think the Yamaha Rhino or Arctic Cat Prowler would be as easy to change. They both use a CVT system were the belt is held at tension at all times so it might not be possible to work it over the pulley. Of course I've never heard of a belt failure on a Yamaha so it wouldn't be as worrisome to begin with. You might want to check out the forums at utilityoffroad.com
