0w-40 has a wider temp range across the board not sure of 10w-50 advantage.

For those in the high heat areas of the country such as out west and southern areas it could be just what is needed. In the Midwest region where we see temps fluctuating greatly it may be to heavy. As posted before the 0-40 has a much better temp range for us here in the colder areas with big temp swings. Maxima has a good reputation but I am just assuming this is blended more for desert riding.
