Default PSI 330/425 or MP 389 Polonda

Sup 250r lovers?


I'm in a second little problem deciding what to buy, i dont wan't to waste 3 grand in a motor. There's ups and downs for all the products, the PSI 330 is a bolt on jug, but cost around 2700.

The 425 makes 75+ hp, can be ran on premium pump gas, cost around 2800 which isn't too bad.

Polonda makes 70-75+ hp, runs on 103 av gas, has crazy bottom end, cost around the same as the 330.


so im not exactly sure which is the best, i believe MP modifies the polaris 400 jug to bolt onto the stock bottom end studs, Not sure though. I dont want to run AV gas. Whats every one's opinion on these motors? I understand that the PSI cylinders are coated to last longer, but i heard they can't be bored, and the Polonda can still have a much larger piston (Dave runs an 88mm on his T-Rex, stock is 83)

Well, go with something that you'll be happy with. The psi will not make 75hp stock. I know, i have one. It wont make that power especially coming from PSI, they dont know di*k when it comes to drag porting. Next you have to ask yourself...will these cylinders be around in a year...probably not. Right now PSI is in such a huge debt that you cant even get pistons from them unless you go straight to wiseco and pay them first. Wiseco wont even sell pistons to PSI right now, because they be broke as a joke. The polonda's are finiky. Not the fastest thing around either. If i were just out to have a good time with a mildly fast motor, id go with a 330 bolt on pro-x with a good port job. Cylinder's and pistons are very widespread, they can make good power, and the 330 as a bolt on doesn't cost an arm and a leg to build

Give ESR a call. I have a friend that has a 370 esr motor that is very fast. He went to Virginia Beach a couple of weekend ago and won first place in the nobby class with it(drag racing). The bike never quits pulling; the longer you hold it the harder it pulls. They have nice products to and there work is top notch from the cylinders to the port work they did an excellent job on everything. I think the prices are pretty reasonable also if $ is a concern. Just trying to help. SLIM

I have two friends that had Polandas (Holaris[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] is a better name). One spent mega bucks trying to get it set-up and eventually ditched it. The other friend has his (389cc) and also spent mega bucks and got beat in a drag by a stock cylindered 250R. They don't appear to be worth the time or money.

If you want to go bigger, go with the ESR bolt ons. I've seen and rode one of them and their work is top-notch.

Yes sir, ive ridden them. When i say finiky i mean as a tuners and builders point of view. You really have to dedicate yourself to one of those setups to get them to run worth a damn. One builder once told me that it takes him 40 hours to port a holaris, er i mean polaris correctly.

Am I on dope, or is this a twin post to http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...did/341146.cfm .... people are telling you the same stuff over and over...ESR is the $h!t !! Go with them and be satisfied.....problem solved.

Yes, i see that.. but no one is exactly answering what i want.. (seems every one thinks i will be drag racing) except one person stated that if i want an all around good motor get a 350 pv motor, I was looking around seeing if ESR made a 350 pv setup (370 w/o stroker) but its been a week and my catalog hasn't gotten here yet.

I'll have to second one of the earlier opinions. If you're looking for a ridable, reliable motor, then you're better off with a stock stroke setup using the Pro-X cylinder, or even one of the Duncan Racing PC2000 cylinders. Stroker motors are harder on the Wiseco pistons that are used in all the Pro-X big bore kits and the hybrids can require some extra attention. A 330 or 350 would likely be a good setup for the type of riding you describe. A powervalve will smooth the hit and give extra grunt on the bottom end. My 350PV (LRD) can be a handful in the woods, and it's a blast in the dunes.

I've personally worked with CT and LRD in the past and have been happier with LRD's customer service. My CT motor was strong, but customer service was a bit lacking. As for ESR, they offer 330PV and 350PV setups (stock stroke). I've only seen 1 of their motors (310PV) and the porting appeared to be somewhat of a hack. There were a number of skips in the work where it was apparent that the tuner missed spots and left some of the casting uncut. I'll save final judgement on the motor for when I get to see it run.
