Rincon shocks Too Soft???
#1
Hi
I am looking at the new Rincon. I am comparing to my freinds Prairie 650. Here is what I found I like about both. My area of concern is the shocks on the Rincon are super soft and can't imagine they would do well on off canter hills? Any one experience with this?? Also if you feel like addressing the other issue pro's and cons below feel free I would like to here what people think.
Rincon Strengths
Honda reliabilty
No belt tranny (can't stand my freinds on P650)
Radial tires
looks
Reviews seem good.
Rincon Weaknesses
Shocks -- too soft and mushy
IRS- I no some people like these but for work and durability the suck. Plus extra cv boots to rip.
Price
Prairie 650 Strengths
Fun engine sounds great
Rear brake (as long as it lasts)
Solid Axle
Diff lock
Weaknesses
One ugly machine
A lot of weird designs I have trouble believing will last.
Terrible transmission
Your views would be appreaciated.

I have had the rincon now for four months. in that time i have put about 1250 miles on it and had no trouble at all. the shocks are a bit softer than other utility quads but definately seem to be able to do the job. i have only hit bottom once and that was at 65 on a trail when i dropped into a wash and hit a lip on the other side. hard to explain. i was loving the shocks at that point. no break in speed or the contact with the trail. the nice thing was that the rebound is managed nicely so i was not sent flying into the brush as would have been expected riding a rancher or foreman.
i also ride alot of hills and have been very happy with the performance in the off canter stuff. the low center of gravity and reduced weight gives you a pretty good feeling.
i cant speak to the prarie as i dont know anyone who owns one.
good luck

I saw one the other day that had one person driving and two on the rear rack that wasnt squatting that much, and it was also pulling a race car which pulls down on the rear end, so i dont think they looked that soft. I have heard the prarie has really soft front shocks.

My one friend has a Rincon and he likes it alot,I ride with him a good bit and it seems to do well. I have not drove it but it looks like the shocks are a little on the soft side but it doesn't seem to to give him any problems and on off canter it does well. As you can see I have some mods done to Prairie and I love it I have almost 2000 mi. on it and it is on the first belt, they last a long time if you just keep them adjusted right. I think you will really like the Rincon if you decide to get one....
