Rancher..Power Band..and Tires
#1
Breaking in a 350ES and had a few thoughts comparing it to the 300 I had before. I was suppose to get a 450 but my buddies hounded the hell out of me to look at the Rancher. It is no 450 but it has some pretty neat features for the backwoods outdoorsman.
The power band seems to be twice as wide as the 300 I previously had. While I spent a lot of time trying to figure out if I wanted an S or ES after a few trips I found out that I don't have to shift near as much as before. The decision on S or ES came down to floorboards and trip meter. The engine seems to have tons of torque therefore I need some suggestions on tires and sizes. Real strong engine you are at the rev. limiter before you expect to be. I really like the size for getting around trees, stumps, just not to big. The steering is accurate and light I mean it is still a utility quad but muchless effort required than big Honda and Polaris. Hey this is not a 450 and I am giving up somethings by getting the Rancher(i.e. sheer grunt power!) but for what I do with the quad I know I made he right decision. If I was bustin mud in Louisana it would have been a 450 with 27" to 28" tires therefore the power to turn them. I would really appreciate some help from those who have upsized their tires. I am concerned about losing power, thought about 25" Titan 589. Please tell me what you have done and how much power loss. Thanks
