Default R swingarm question

One of my buddies cracked the swingarm on his 87 R . I know the 88/89 is not a direct bolt on. But will the swingarm off an 86 three wheeler bolt up ?

The differences are:

1) the the 88+ are aluminum.

2) the 88+ are one inch shorter.

The swap is not a direct bolt on but it could be done.

The 88/89 frame has a tube across the back behind motor the the 86/87 does not have. The 86/87 steel swingarm is open in the middle ( where the bolt runs through ) the 88/89 is solid all the way across. And most important to some is the 88/89 is an inch shorter. If you are out for good looks the 88/89 swingarm will polish out really nice.
