I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been more interest. Maybe people are just disappointed that there's not a new quad yet. The two things that people like about the Z400 is reverse and liquid cooling. This change didn't address those two things. I was a little disappointed at first but at least Honda did something. (Probably in hopes to just hold on until the release of a new sport quad.) Personally I don't care about the liquid cooling but reverse would be nice.
Maybe if there's a noticeable gain in power people will show more interest.

They could put in a higher compression piston, different cam, free-er flowing exhaust and free-er flowing air filter to go along with that carb and pick up a fair amount of hp while still keeping the wet wieght less than the Z400. They could also gear it a little higher and it would be right there or close to it with the other sport quads. I don't think it would make everyone happy but it would be an easy step for Honda to keep up. For that matter they could just lower the price of the 400 by $1000. I don't care if I have reverse or not but I know it's important to some people. I've had it before and don't have it now and I really don't miss it.
They don't even have to go nuts with the above mods like exhaust and compression just a decent advance in each area.

I agree with that...I have done a small amount of mods to mine and it can keep up and pass most other quads with ease...seriously! THis is all I've done to it:
Big Gun Full Exhaust, Custom Airbox Mod - 158 main jet, WB Rev Limiter, and high octane fuel.
Can't go wrong with that cheap performance upgrade! I have done ALOT more to it as far as body mods, but that's it for the motor.
I've been clocked next to a rincon at 74mph, and still had half of my throttle to go in fifth gear! SO that means it will atleast go to about 80-85mph! All you need to do is know how to properly jet your carb and your set! I just had my local race shop do it for me because I build their website:

I just spoke to an owner of a Honda/Suzuki dealership. He said that he won't believe anything until he see's it in his showroom. He also said that he hasn't received any info. from Honda on any changes for the 400EX. Only info. on changes for the utility 4x4's.
