WTG on your purchase.

If it was me I would make that first oil + filter change much sooner than later.

Congratulations on your new purchase. Did you get yellow like your icon?

Someday, I will have another sport quad.

I just happen to have a filter right here. (An atv garage sold it to me for my Recon. I didn't know that the Recon doesn't have a filter at the time.) This is a EMGO #10-99200 and I really think it fits the 400EX along with a list of other Honda atv's. It cost $4.95 plus tax.

I would just take it easy for awhile. Maybe you could just look everything over to make sure they put it together correctly. Oil level, peak into the air filter box to make sure the filter is connected correctly, and whatever else might be important. (Dealerships make errors too!)

Congrats, on the ex. I love honda and I almost got an ex. I would break it in right I know people that say they lost up to 3 or 4 horsepower because they didn't break them in right. Ride it for a few minutes changing gears, rev it a little about half throttle or a little more. Stop and let it cool and then do the same thing again. My z400 manaul says to break them in for about 10 hours of riding time so I'd do it as much as possible then you'll have it broke in for the weekend. Now you can go raise a little cain. If you don't ride with a helmet usually I'd probably start now and get some goggles the ex will probably throw mudd and rocks (even when you don't see any mud) just like my z400. I swear it had been dry for two days the other day and I just rode up and down the road and I was filthy somehow but man it's fun.

wheelinforlife,

I am not going to make a suggestion on the oil. I would use the search feature and make that judgement for yourself. Myself I make my own blend of synthetic, dino oil.

Since it is brand new I would suggest keeping a logbook of oil changes, other items done to the machine and aprox hours of ride time and there dates. The logbook will add to the machine as time goes by.

Chet
