Default How do I get the #%&)@! shifter off a 250ex?

i may have been misleading you guys...im not talking about the threads on the bolt hole that pulls the shifter tight around the shaft...I already tried threading them again...I just filed them out and used a bolt and nut. I was talking about the shifter hole that the shaft goes in. I may be calling them the wrong thing...the grooves on the shaft are fine, but the matching grooves in the shifter hole are shot...however...after striping the 250 of all the plastic for a thourough cleaning, I went for a temporary solution and put a long bolt with two nuts on it and, to my dismay, it held together better than the long term fix I did a few months ago with the nut and bolt.

On a side note, after I cleaned the frame and arms and stuff. I wraped the battery around the frame with some duk tape and rode around on the roads without a seat or plastic...I must say...its a f**kin wickid feelin. Its like a freaky stretched out chopper feelin, and on top of it, it handles alot better cuz you aint high on the seat. Id be just as happy leavin it like that, but I still ride it a good bit and I hate gettin mud thrown in my face...but I suggest everyone strip yours down, clean it, and ride it one time stripped...its a great feelin...plus people look at you like "WHOA MAN! WHAT DA HECK?"...it just has that look to it...ya know?
