Default recon brakes?

Do the front brakes on recons all suck or just mine? I've bled the system and checked the drums and pads, they just dont work worth a damned. Mushy and very weak. Is there something I'm missing??

What pads are you using? Cheap pads will do that. Find a dealer that sells EBC (345G) or Premier (S82)shoes they have a harder lining and alot of metallic in them. Sand blast your drums inside then you will have good brakes.

Yes I think all recon front brakes suck. I can adjust mine all I want but after a few rides they are back to not working and now the pads need replaced. But I have learned to use my rear brakes all of the time. I priced how much it would cost to put on the 250ex disc brakes and for 1 side it would cost over $1000CAN and that is without the proces of new rims.

Default recon brakes?

I have only had my Recon about 2 months and I ride it pretty hard and almost and hour a day and then 8 on the weekends, My Front brakes are gone and my hand brake for the back brake is gone but the Foot Brake still works, does anybody have any suggestions on what could be the problem and how to fix it?

I think they work it just takes two hands and a lot of pressure applied.

I think the rear brake works OK and the Recon does have good engine braking.

I haven't had a problem with my rear brakes they are still like they were the day I bought it. KRM2299--have you tried adjusting your rear brake handle?? If not try that by turning the upper wing nut until the lever works normal. It only takes a few seconds.

the front aren't really adjustable like the back i dont think...just learn to live w/o using front on it. I dont have any back brake son my 400ex cause the master cylinder is blown. I've learned to live w/o it & dont need it any longer.
