Default 400ex starting problem

The way i understood it is he hit the started button, and all it did was click one time.
I had the same exact problem on my yamaha moto-4 and on one of my jetskis...I had to have the starters rebuilt on both of them and it only cost me 50 dollars at a local atc repair shop.

Mine did that too, whenever I went to push the starter it made a single click. I checked and the ground on the battery was loose.

Simply "jump" the starter relay by touching a insulated pair of pliers to both posts(with the switch in the on position)
If this starts your bike(I think this is your problem) you need to replace the starter relay
If the same thing happens check to be sure all the cables are tight
Still no luck...replace starter brushes
