You have to look at wheater you want to put out the cash for a 400ex, personnaly i am 15 and i love riding my 300ex right now i have had it since 98 and i am still not sick of it nor do i complain about anythinng on it i think it is a fast relible honda quad that with proper treatment will last the rest of your life as will the 400ex but the 300ex is cheaper and great a jumpin with both quads u should have a few mods.
The 400ex is alot of money for a 14 year old to put out but if your parents are buying i would go with the 400ex but if u are buying i would go with the 300ex
and as for the things that a few people will say about the reverse gear and choke on the 300ex that is nothing u get used to it and it is like nothing
if u want more info on me or my 300ex email me at winky@netrover.com
or
my icq # is 43170971

well id be puting some of the money in and my parents the rest so maybe the 400 EX ? but im gonnna need alot of power well ima big kid for a 14 year old im taller than my dad and hes 5,9 also i ride extremely hard and i ride every day so which one ? i mean by hard that i broke my front axle on a jump with my 350 a couple of times (very not fun) also what kind of mods should i do when i get one ?

Good point Dunner. Also you'll probably grow out of the 300 but you can grow into the 400 and with almost endless mods you shouldn't grow out of the 400 ex anytime soon. The honda dealer in my area sell the 300 ex for 4299.00 and the 400 ex for 4999.00.

If you got the money get the 400EX. If you don't, get the 300EX. The 400EX virtually improves everything the 300EX has improved on other quads. Only pro to the 300EX is the reverse if you need it.

I am 15 and I just got a 00 300ex in december and i love it, I ride on trails and hard packed dirt roads, i can keep up with a 400 easliy, I drove my friends 300ex with a dg pipe and it will beat a stock 400ex and were talking like $155 for the whole pipe system, and you would still have money left for other things, my advice is go with the 300ex the reverse is handy sometimes!!

luv2ride...not to cause any problems, but form what i have heard form numerous sources is that the 300 cant keep up with teh 400, i see peopel tlaknig about there mods and they still say i somehow cant keep up with the 400ex
also i dont think a pipe would make a machine that is geared differently and have a 100cc advantage etc beaten.
I personally really like the looks of the 400 ex over the 300, the 300 looks for like the trx90 no offence
I will go with the revere theing thought, i would liek to have a reverse if i had a 400ex
Why doesnt honda jsut make a reverse that is some how removeable, so people that dont mind the weight can keep it and htoses racers out there can remove it.
How much can a reverse gear at to your machines weight anyway?
