Default 250R hot rod crank

the 1986 250r, did not have a spacer plate. It was a short crank, then in 88-89 they went long rod, I believe the the piston pin (or whatever is located like 2 cm higher on the 88-89's, but im not sure. I dont know why you would use a 86 piston in a long rod kit, but yess you do need that spacer plate or your piston will go threw your head.
