ATC R motor in quad R frame
#2
The motor from the ATC 250r's (86) and the quad 250r's are practically the exact same except for a little different gearing. As for gearing the ATC is a little higher. The ATC motor will go in the TRX frame with no modifications. As for a pipe, just bolt on a TRX 250r pipe and you are ready to go, no the ATC pipe wont work, but as I said a TRX pipe will work on the ATC motor.

Dill,
You have it backwards, the drive sprocket is on the left side on the air cooled motors and on the right side on the liquid cooled ATC engines. As for Trick250Rx I am not sure about it mounting up right. Honda's motors in the 81-82 had the motor just bolt to the frame, but for the 83-84 the motor mounts to the frame and the shock tower, I don't know how the quad frame hooks up and as for overheating I'm not sure, I think the quad frame weighs a little more than the ATC frame so you would have to jet it a little bit richer. I would go with the liquid cooled engines unless you were going to put a 81-82 air cooled engine in it because those were the Elsinore engines and were the best for all around power.

thanks for the replies, Currently I have a 250X engine in the R chassis, which is stripped to the frame, so weather of not it bolts right up doesnt matter since I will have to fab motor mounts anyways, as far as the sproket side that could be a problem, I am waiting on him to email me back what year it is, I am puting of reassembling my quad because of this motor, I havent found a Liquid cooled that I can afford so its got to be this one,
