i have a new rancher that i have ridden maybe ten times. here recently it has started stalling out on me. i can pull the choke out a little and it will drive on. however when i go to push the choke back in it starts to die out again. i'm curious as to what the problem is and how to fix it. has anyone else had this problem? i'm going to check the plug and see if its fouling out but with it being new, that don't sound right to me. i'm not a mechanical wizz by no means so if anyone could help i'd greatly appreciate it!!

I"m not mechanical wizz either but it sounds to me like it's too lean of a mixture in your carbeurator. Try adjusting the idle misture screw turning it in the rich position. ( I always forget which way to turn it) maybe someone else will replying telling you which way to adjust it

Since your machine is still under warranty I would suggest letting your dealer adjust it properly for you. They have the equipment to set your idle speed as well as check the timimg and check the fuel/air mixture. If your machine hasn't been in for it's first service, now may be a good time. On the first service (@ approx. 100 hrs) they will check everything out, re-adjust all the cables, change oil and filter, make necessary adjustments as well as check that all engine nuts and bolts are tight.

If you want to adjust the carb yourself, check your operators manual for directions

You probably got a piece of dirt in your carb. Give it a good clean out and it will be fine.

My new 300 4x4 in 95 had a very similar problem on its first time out. (Brand new) I pulled the carb apart on the trail and found a tiny speck of something in the main jet. After cleaning it out it ran fine. If its still on warranty though I would let them do it unless you have some knowledge of carbs. Good luck!

If its under warrenty then take it to the dealer. If not under warrenty then take off the carb & clean it. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I had a 200SX that did the very same thing and i found that the Pilot(small jet) was clogged.I would fix it myself by removing carb and removing bowl and then remove small pilot jet and run a bristle from a wire brush through it.You should be able to see light through it,the hole is very small. If you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself then i would take it in to the dealer first, and while your at it get the oil changed and have the valve cleareance checked.
