Heres a list of my previous problems:
1. Spark plug boot got a hole in it
2. Water Pump Broke
3. Transmission Slips during first mile of riding (still have this problem)
4. Hard to get started every day
5. Strains when in mud
6. Dies going up hills

NOW i got a new problem... My oil temp light came on during about an hour of regular riding, got home and the radiator was smoking. Some of my coolant went missing and now Im mad!

I probally got the most miles on a rincon in this forum (3100) and run 26" 589 m/ts. Today i was seriously thinking of taking my saved money and buying 28s and wheels and all the other goodys until this happened and now i think im going to sell it and buy a new sportsman 700. Any info would be great. Please help before i sell it...

I would take it back to the dealer. Machine is a new model and if in fact those are true problems, I am sure Honda would like to hear about them and fix them as that is a new machine on the market.

If you want to increase your problems, purchase that 700 you mentioned. I ride with 20 other guys and of all the machines (Kawasaki Prairies, Rubicons, Foremans, Polaris's), there is only one brand that brings out the wrench's and that is the Polaris's.

The Prairie is a very nice machine and would buy that over the 700 any day.

 

If you do get a new quad look at the prarie 700 or 650 first and compare it with the sportsman.

 

sorry to hear that. My friend has a RINCON and it does great. I know that doesnt help you much with yours.... but whats the dealer doing about your problems? Are they helping? That bike cost a good amount of money and you shouldnt have to put up with all those problems. do you all know if lemon laws apply here? In louisiana, there are lemon laws for cars, but Im not sure about nationwide or if they cover ATVs. I'd make them give me a new one. Something must have went wrong when they built this one.

 

Take it back to the dealer is right!!!!! At the least change all your fluids. Adjust the rev limiter and possibly get it re-jetted. Add a HMF exhaust!

My uncle has very similar problems with his RINCON and now it goes like hell. Thirty foot wheelies on the grass. IT really is a Green fire breathing dragon...... have patience and for the love of God.... stay off the Polaris!

i would say take it to the dealer as well. you might want to put the stock tires back on first cause the first they will say is that the 26"s of tire put extra stress on (insert component with problem) and is was caused by modification.

am not sure where you ride, but heat should not be a problem. i have about 1400 miles on my rincon and every mile has been in the desert heat with no cooling problems. make sure your fan is kicking on. a malfunction of the fan is going to cause you to loose coolent and ultimately overheat the oil.

 

I feel your pain. I've had the following occur:
1. Water Pump broke - under warranty
2. Right front end collapsed due to breakage - so far under warranty
- under warranty
- right tie-rod ends were shot
- where the upper A-arm attaches to the hub it broke (original problem causing this)
- right front brake locks up intermittently (have had it to the shop 3 times for this)
3. Transmission slips during first mile or two of riding - VERY annoying

I am still glad I got the Rincon - but buying the first model year of it wasn't a wise choice - Now people like you and I are the guinea pigs.

sorry to hear about those problems ya'll have been having. I have been on my Rincon for almost 7 months and the only problems I've had was a cv boot tearing and that was my own fault. No problems overheating and certainly no parts failing. I've ridden it very hard and didn't even baby it much during the break-in period. Hope you can get your issues resolved, the Rincon is a sweet ride and it doesn't sound like you've had much chance to experience that.

 

What's all this Polaris bashing going on here? This thread here proves something, that all brands have thier problems. I too would not get the 700, its 50 lbs heavier than the 500. Do your self a favor get a 500 sportsman and get a HSP speed kit and you will be chewin up and spittin out the 700 sportsman and the almighty Rincon and still have a reliable machine.

 

Or just wait around and get that Arctic Cat 650. Pretty wild looking bike there. I agree on the first year model thing. I never have really had any bad luck with my Grizzly (and I got it like 3 weeks after they came out), but a lot of people had a lot of problems with them.
