False neutral 400ex
#5
Mine did the same thing, but it was never a big problem. Sometimes it was simpler to go from second down to neutral instead of first and up. It was in neutral and the light was not on. You get used to it, however it was a pain in the rear when you are shifting from first to second and miss and land in no-gear-land. But he was right, if you shift a little harder you should not have that problem.

Only time I've had that problem is when initially shifting into first gear while stopped. From neutral, light goes out start to take off but it's still in neutral. There's some 'play' in the neutral area. Upshifting has never been a problem though.
