I am deciding between a 300ex and a 250x. i am looking at the 250x because of the price. But i am worried about finding parts. Are there still after market products for the 250x like a pipe and jetting kits. Is there any difference between the two as far as handleing ,suspesion and speed or anyu other factors? I ahve heard they are very similiar. BUt i can not find very much info on the 250x. I dont know if this will factor in but i am 15 and weigh 130. I am pretty strong for my size. I know a 300ex is almost perfect and will last for a while. I have not found any 250x for sale; are they very rare or something??
all inof would be greatly apreciated thankyou

heaps of parts
heaps of both round
check the forum history
this topic has been debated heaps before, and always, there are people who argue it
both good bikes
not a lot different, solid bikes, parts are not hard to find, most are interchangeable between the x and ex, you should handle (ride to your ablity though) the bike but what are the riding laws in the states....don't you have to be 16 or something
thats whats writen on the warning lables on my 250x
see what others say....

If you want battery problems buy a 300ex and if you want a more reliable starting system (Kick Start) buy a 250x. The 2 bikes run neck and neck in a race I have a 91 and an 87 250x and they both run great. Change your oil alot and the bike will last a lot longer. I dump my oil every 4 days of riding and change the filter on all bikes

Both are great bikes, as a matter of fact they are the same bike. One has a kick start and weighs about 25lbs less (250x), the other has electric start and weighs about 25lbs more(300ex). The engine differences really just offset the weight difference. Both bikes have the same frame/suspension, parts are really easy to come by for both. A decent 250x can be found for around $2000 or less and 300ex's will run $3000 or a little more. I will say that I definately like the 250x's reverse lever location over the under the bike and through the woods reach for the lever on a 300ex. Buy what you can afford and what you can handle. No matter what, get something, go ride!

Those warnings are just there for your saftey...that's what they say anyways!

I've been riding 250s since i've been 13. And never had a trouble.

a 7 year old can go buy the biggest dirt bike they want. Go figure!
