Default Shaving weight on the 400EX

What can/do you do to shave weight on the EX. Right now, mine's pretty loaded w/ full skids, heavy 6 ply Razrs on .190. Now I'm thinking of going the other route, and using my Grizz in the mountains, and the EX on the dunes and trails

New exhaust can save you weight and aluminum bars will cut off some weight.

Yeah, I got a WB slip on and Renthal bars. I don't want to cut the plastic either. Guess there's not that many options

PADZZ - This migt help you even though its about a raptor. I found it in a thead awhile back. It could give you some ideas.........
Use ITP mx holeshots sizes 18x10x9 and 20x6x10s. these tires mounted on stock rims eliminates 8 pounds alone.
My Pro Circuit muffler and pipe eliminated 7lbs
Tucker proarm roundhousing swing arm eliminates 1.5lbs
remove heelguards is 3.5 pounds
light removal is 4lbs
radiator fan 1.5 lbs
parking brake block off 1.5lbs
replace with aluminum handlebars =1.5lbs
airbox snorkel and lid-1.5lbs
remove toolkit=1lbs
remove rubber boots over motor-1lbs
remove front disc guards-1lbs
trim front plastic, remove reverse cable and front plastic mounting brackets=3.lbs
use aluminum rear mx grabbar and aluminum rear plastic mounting brackets=.5lbs
aluminum tierods and aluminum lug nuts=1lbs
remove plastic skids=3lbs
Roll design shifter=.5lbs
motion pro twist throttle=.5lbs
Elka rear shock rebuild=.5lbs
Elka triple rate shocks actually weigh 1lbs less than stockers(mainly due to spring sizes and aluminum bodies)
=-43lbs

A lighter sub frame will drop a bunch and you can go with a lighter air box which will allow you to move the bat and elec stuff inside, looks better and shifts the weight to the center. Aloy upper a-arms will also drop a few. As stated thinner rims but they bend so might not be a great trade.

I wonder why no one ever mentions going on a diet? And it wont cost you anything. But it will save you money!!

But everyone knows this is the hardest way to cut weight. Been strugling with it for about 2 years myself...

I only weigh 185 and I'm in excellent shape, so that's no an issue. Where can you get the air box that holds the battery? Who makes 'em? Thanks!

well, all i know is to buy aluminum parts like rims, swingarms, and not get stuff you dont need. get rid of the mud guards ( i did on my 300ex and banshee)definately a pipe and silencer too.Maybe you can go to rockymountainatv.com and get some carbon fiber parts like a hood and stuff and i know that saves weight.
