88 fourtrax front driveshaft problem???
#1
I have a 1988 4-wheeldrive fourtrax. I think I am having problems with the front drive shaft/differential. When the machine is in neutral and the tires are straight you can push it just fine. If the tires are turned at all the differential doesn't seem to be working and the tires grab the ground. I try to push it out of my garage at an angle and it leaves skid marks from the front tires. Also, when you are driving and you turn either way you can hear some noise coming from the front right tire area. When you are going down blacktop about 10 to 15 miles per hour the machine will periodically lerch like the front tires are traveling at a different speed than the rear tires and the slow set has to catch up. I bought it used and did notice that the drive axle boot was slightly torqued out of position. Any ideas on what may be causing this??? If so, what do I have to replace to fix it???
Thanks!
Thanks!
