should be an easy question to answer

hi i just got some parts friday from servicehonda.com and i just put them on yesterday. i had to buy a new carb and throttle cable and air filter assembly. anyways the quad is an 01 recon. i just now went out and tried starting it probably for the first time in awhile and it wouldnt completely start and started spuddering after a few attempts at starting. anyhow heres where the question comes in. i dont have the air filter connected to the carb yet but im making sure nothing gets sucked in it im gonna go get some radiator hose from autozone and connect it. but anyways when i ordered the parts from service they said it should already be jetted correctly so could it be the fact that its getting to much air cause i odnt have it connected?? plz help so im thinking its one of these 3
A. it just hasnt been started in awhile and needs to be warmed up?
B. new carb isnt set up correctly?
C. its getting to much air?

Have you already put the new carb on? If you have, then it probably needs to have some gas put into the carbeurator just to get it going for a second so it will start pulling gas from the tank. You may have to do it a few times. Make sure you have the gas on too!! I have ran my foreman before for about 2 minutes with the air filter off, and it ran fine, so i would think yours would be fine too.Good luck.
