-300EX Project Help-
#1
Ok,
Me and HondaRebuilder are currently completely rebuilding a 1999 300EX. We have completely dissasembled the bike, Sandblasted the frame and swingarm and Repainted it Neon Orange, Replaced All the bearings and Seals,Cleaned And Repainted or polished all of the other suspension parts, And replaced many worn out or broken stock parts including-Spindles,Hubs,brake pads, Tires, sprockets,Chain,Plastic ect,.,.. We now have the frame almost completey back together and rolling, the motor is almost done and will be finished by the end of the week, we plan to have it running by the weekend,
But my question is, is there anything important that i need to do that i might have forgotten during the assembly process??? Anything i should double check???????
Thanks
Ryan

Make dam sure you clean the battery frame ground surface down to bare metal and locktite all the bolts. I would tear it back apart and get it powdercoated in the color you want because paint just really doesnt cut it on high wear items but you will find this out soon enough. live and learn. cool color by the way

We did it in acrylic enamel and it seems pretty durable as far as wear except for it seems to like to chip on angles in some places, We are building it to sell and since its now sitting on its own 4 New wheels minus the motor and plastic and a few other things i just cant see taking it back apart, We tryed to get it powdercoated but we got the run around with the company so we said forgett it, I loctited everything i thought needed it and am now waiting on the motor, i will get some pics of it so i can see what some of you all think....
Thanks for the Help

I have done the same thing to my 300ex like 2 years ago, I got it powder coated black, I like the all black look, but whatever floats your boat. It is nice to be original, good color. Anyway 1 thing comes to mind you probably arn't this stupied, but make absolutaly sure that you put on the oil line that takes oil up to the top end!!! You are also rebuilding the engine? or just the frame and stuff? I wouldn't think a 99 would need to much more than paint. Some people tend to not take care of there stuff though!!
good luck on selling it, there doesn't seem to be to much of a market for 300ex's anymore, I love mine, but i would never sell it to much value to me and I would only get 3500 for it! I think it takes almost a better rider to pull long catwalks on a 300ex, my cousins have 250rs and with a little slip of the clutch and twist of the rist you are pulling a 50 foot cawalk, they are sweet bikes though!!!
