snap-on tools all the way!!!

Actually anything with a lifetime warranty on it is good in my books .. in that respect .. the cheaper the better, unless it keeps breaking .. then it sux

With tools you get what you pay for. Snap-On & Mac are good tools but you're gonna pay for em. Home Depot sells Husky brand tools with a lifetime warranty. I got a nice portable tool set by Crescent in a folding case at Sams that I take in my truck when going riding on the quads. It has a lifetime warranty too.
Craftsman will work for the average guy like me and they're affordable with the lifetime warranty, but then some of the new Craftsman tools aren't all that great in my book. I've had to take back 2 different 3/8 ratchets this month for replacement. A week later the replacement just locked up and wouldn't turn. They replace them without a hassle though.
My parents gave me a Craftsman tool set when I was 16 and I still have most of those tools in my toolbox and my sons use them still today. Of course I've added alot more over the years. You can never have enough tools in my book. Like NLWarrior said just buy tools with the lifetime warranty and you can't go wrong.

I'm a Plumbing contractor and have gone through my share of tools. Snap-on is a very very reliable brand for hand tools, but they can get pricey. As for craftsman, if its just for your use, and you don't get really intense with them, they will probably do you fine. I do not by any means, am trying to start a bash here. This is from my personal experience only. When I get my tools, I don't usally get the big sets, I have found that, for them to get the price down on the big packs, they usually cheapen down on the parts. As for the Lifetime warranty on the Craftsman, I am not concerned about reliability on their "hand tools". But their hand tools just don't hold up with my work. In my profession I go for ease of use and compact. My suggestion is do what I do, try them out at the store, how does it feel in your hand. For all wrenches, I use Rigid. But the tool with the largest population in my toolbox is "Stanley". They make some tools with a remarkable feel to them. Talk about "Ergonomic". All the Remaining ones, just try them out. You get what you pay for. If it feels cheap, it probably is, and probably will break.

I repeat, I do not mean to get any bashing started, just speaking from experience. As for power tools, personally I would never buy another craftsman. Their motors are not as reliable as others, and they don't have as much power. Bench Grinder, Table saw, Chop saw, Hammerdrill, Rotary Hammer, Lawn Mower, Weed eater, all have bogged down and broke immediately after my warranty was up. The lifetime warranty was only on the parts that didn't break. If your looking for power tools, I would go with Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, or Milwaukee.

Hope this helps
