does anyone know anything about putting a cr 500 engine on a 400ex frame? My main concern is finding a pipe that will work. Are there any companys that make parts for this swap? Any info would be apriciated

There was a pipe for that conversion on Ebay a while ago... But take it fromn somebody who has ridden a CR500 engined quad (ina LT 250 frame) that its not something you want to do. It will shake your teeth out and break every weld on every part of the bike.

no counter balancer. the CR and KX 500 bikes are built for those motors.. Put that motor in a quad, or 3 wheeler frame your asking for headaches. If you want a 4 wheeler with a 500cc 2 stroke, buy an ole Quadzilla, or find someone who has one and ride it. If you like long comfortable rides, you wont find it. If you want something that is just fast, and fun to ride in 5-10 minute spurts, then thats the quad for you.

me and a buddy put a 650 ninja motor on an old quad frame even used the factory sportbike muffs but had to fabricate the pipe local muffler shop helped but had to watch ur legs cause the pipe was rite there it was cool with a muff under each rear fender and it still sounded like a ninja superbike and was dangerous to say the least .....actually still have it out in the weeds hasn't ran in about 5 yrs. everyone scared of it. would spin 180 degrees just by gas'n it to hard couldn't keep front down in any gear people would putt around yard get brave and gap the throttle open a little and they would putt it back to the shop and get off and refuse to get back on...thought it was funny it was kinda scary to ride tho i have to admit
