There are three possible causes:
1. - The battery is defective and simply won't hold a charge - test and replace the battery. Was, or is, the battery low on fluid. If the fluid is not maintained and the level drops below the top of the plates the battery will have a very short life.
2. - The charging system is simply not charging the battery - check all wiring, test the output from the charging system with a multimeter, repair wiring or charging system as required.
3. There is a load draining the battery (when it shouldn't). Something is shorted somewhere. First check for current draw from the battery using a multimeter. If there is draw when there should not be, start reviewing all wiring and circuitry until you find the short or load that is causing the problem. Fix the short.
